It encouraged greater appreciation of artistic technique in that it revolutionised traditional representation of holy figures and through its subject matter, allowed further connection to religion. The visual appearance of the Virgin Mary’s Assumption painted upon the altarpiece relates to its context and audience in that it was commissioned to be the focal point within a significant place of worship. This essay will discuss the relationship between the painting and its importance to the civic and religious identity of Renaissance Venice. From its unveiling in 1518, it continues to reside in the high altar of one of the most prominent cathedrals in the city of Venice the Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari. The celebrated Renaissance painter Tiziano Vecelli, known in English as Titian, was the creator of the powerful altarpiece named Assunta, or ‘Assumption of the Virgin’ (fig.1). Discuss how the visual appearance (style, subject matter, technique) of the following paintings relate to its Renaissance patron, context and audience. This biography answers questions that were never answered in Anne’s diary such as the major discussion revolving who the tattletale was who initially caused the capture of the Frank family. Müller dives deeper down into Anne’s personality and what type of person she was at school and at home. With pictures included, a family tree, and much more, this novel is very detailed and allows the audience to truly understand how harsh life was as a Jewish individual. This book gives insight before Anne started writing and what happened after the Franks were caught hiding. Müller’s recreation gives more factual information about Anne Frank’s life instead of Anne’s words alone. Anne Frank’s journal is a treasured diary that is loved and appreciated by millions around the world and continues to be cherished every day. Most know who Anne Frank was, a little girl who displayed her story through writing. Being a student that has always found history about the holocaust to be interesting, Melissa Müller’s Anne Frank: The Biography was a fascinating biography. And if the author writes a sequel, with the priest and the Maggie the Police Inspector finalising their clean up in other parts of the world, I will keenly chase that down as well, for another exciting read! Once I had let this go, I could then get on with simply enjoying the action in this fantasy. The things the Police Inspector sees would have convinced her very quickly that there was something supernatural occurring. I made myself comfortable with this very quickly, by noting that these are extraordinary times - calling for extraordinary measures. Having said that, the fun action in this story makes it worthwhile to not think too hard about why a Police Inspector who no longer has faith in God would suddenly start running around with a 'soldier' priest assisting him to commit crime after crime, to rid the world of a new evil that threatens to upturn everything. As with some of my favourite fantasy stories, belief needs to be suspended before reading too much of this story. The biography offers glimpses into then society and people and other unknown facts about the great physics prodigy that resided in dark for so many decades. The book revolves around letters written by Einstein. It also reveals his role in the development of the atomic bomb and how he contributed to the civil rights groups in the United States. From early years of life to thoughts, experiments to his later life, the book has it all. It reveals Einstein as the man behind the science. The book delves deep into his life and verifies the connection between creativity and freedom. Isaacson’s biography is an excellent exhibition of Einstein’s personality, aura, rebellious nature and scientific approach for things that seemed mundane to others. Best known for his book ‘Benjamin Franklin: An American Life,’ Walter Isaacson has successfully tried to interpret Einstein’s mind and reasons behind his prowess. 'A match for end-of-the-world classics like Stephen King's THE STAND' - New York Times Review of Books The gripping sequel to New York Times number one bestseller YEAR ONE - an epic story of love, war, family and magic. The producers of his play are getting worried that their beloved bad boy is turning into an unwanted bad boy – so they decide he needs an attitude adjustment – and that comes in the shape of Lainie Graham. And when somebody starts abusing their fans, making an absolute arse of themselves in public places, and alienating the people who paid for their bloody Ferrari, they may consider that line crossed.” “There is a line at which a likable bad boy becomes a nasty entitled bastard whom the public would rather see hung out to dry in the street than to pay to watch prance about a stage in bloomers. The public loves a bad boy of course, but Richard’s latest tantrums have left him not in the best light. He has no time for people who annoy him and makes no excuses for his surly attitude. Richard has a temper – a very, very bad temper. Richard is very good looking and pretty well-known to the press and gossip magazine for his good looks – and his bad behavior. Richard and Lainie are both talented stage actors appearing in the same play in the West End in London. This book is adorable, it’s sexy and the banter is top-notch. But I finally read it and I fell in love. This book has been out for a few months and I’ve had a lot of people text me, email me and tweet me and say – READ IT! So I bought it and then it got buried on my Kindle (seriously, how many book are buried on my kindle?) and I kind of forgot about it. Darcy look like the poster child for low-self esteem. Longtime DC Comics fans can already see how Maas and Simonson have already remixed Catwoman in a new and interesting way in just the first few pages.Īs the story goes on, we learn about Luke Fox, a.k.a. Back in 2019, Under the Moon: A Catwoman Tale was a great example of how creators can take well established characters, revisit them in new ways and add new connections yet to be tried and make it work. DC Comics has been the best publisher at reimagining longstanding comics characters for young adults and, in fact, Catwoman has been given a remix more than once. |
